Double Decker Drives Dutch Fourth
By Kris Vidic
FC Oranje - Iberseguridad
The Oranjemen came through a season deciding week with flying
colours, after thumping Iberseguridad 3-1 in there own back
yard. Oranje came through with there third win in 8 days to
secure the maximum points that were available.
After a lackluster
start where Oranje insisted on wasting several guilt edged
opportunities, it finally clicked with Robbie Decker providing a
clinical finish looping the ball into the top corner from 18
yards. From there in the result was never in doubt, it was more
a matter of how many they were going to get. Some wayward
passing and poor control allowed the home team to regain control
with the dynamic Scott Fitzgerald providing a plethora of
dangerous jinking runs and Beckham-esque crossing from the left
wing. The service was on the money but the oranjemens stubborn
defensive wall superbly marshaled by Lucas Barker reveling in
the responsibility of leading the back line. When Dennis Van
Beeh fired a raking 50 yard ball into the feet of Robbie Decker
he danced his way past three Iberseguridad defenders to fire
Oranje two up.
The win looked in the
bag, but, the home team clawed one back just before the break.
Coach Shawn Kinnear re-shuffled the pack at half time opting to
pack the midfield. It resulted in Oranje finally putting the
game to bed with new signing Sidan Sinbad smashing home a
ferocious left foot drive on what was a very impressive debut.
The Mercurial John Manson said of the win “We were confident of
picking up another win on the road but at times made it a little
difficult for ourselves. It was tough out there today but we did
enough in the end.” Man of the match goalkeeper Andy Prins
summed up perfectly by saying “ We wanted three points and we
got them”
