Can Only Get Better
Caf. Galera 2-1 FC Oranje
Last Sunday FC Oranje faced 2nd placed Caf
Galera in their push for promotion from the Segunda division.
The Oranje’s were made to play without in form centre back Kris
Taft who failed a late fitness test half an hour before the
game, Isak Juul replaced Kris being paired with fellow Norwegian
centre back Lars Ossawy.
Team: Prins, Wilkinson, Barker, Ossawy,
Juul, Tilley, Brooker, van Beek, Dekker, Sinbad, Ben.
Injuries have hit FC Oranje hard recently, midfield maestro
Craig Tilley had been carrying a groin strain for the past few
weeks but has overcome the pain barrier to walk out in the
Orange shirt. Kris Taft has had a Petre Cceh like season with
injuries denting his season, but he too has overcome the odds to
battle his way through 90 minutes, needing 25 stiches in his
head after a collision in the previous game and this week knee
ligament damage halting his comeback once again. But with a
great squad of players FC Oranje have battled there way up to
4th, one place and one point off automatic promotion, a win this
week would have put us into 3rd and a point clear of our nearest
rivals.
But, on a sunny Sunday morning FC Oranje failed to repeat the
heroics of previous weeks, with missed chances and slack passing
all around the pitch Caf Galera took their chances, all be it
two of them, and left FC Oranje reveling in ‘what could have
been’. Some football managers and even the players are quick to
blame the defeat of their team on poor refereeing decisions, we
will accept our defeat in a gracious manner and shook hands with
the referee after the game but FC Oranje can feel very harshly
done by this week with our referee sending one of our players
off for being punched in the face!
50-50 tackles were being given to the home team constantly and
as a player it can get frustrating when nothing is going your
way, but that is football and we should have taken our chances.
Coach Shawn was clearly disappointed with
the result but knows his team has what it takes to get promotion
tot take us into the top flight.
COME ON LOS ORANJE’S!
